ALEXANDRA RIDEL CERAMIC

Collection of three molded branches in colored porcelain, by Alexandra Ridel

Duality

This sculpture is the first in a series of figurative works exploring questions about what connects inner experience to the material reality of the body.

Through this figure, the human body becomes the site of an encounter between awakened, immaterial and sacred consciousness, and material nature, raw and yet sublime.

What is the relationship between the two?

The sculpture also explores an essential paradox: to offer is to expose oneself; to receive or contemplate is to be transformed.

The space surrounding the form is an integral part of the sculpture. It opens onto a suspended moment, where giving becomes a passage and receiving becomes a process of transformation.

Tripode

Tripod

This small sculpture takes the form of a vessel supported by three legs, its balance appearing precarious yet remarkably stable.

It explores the tension between apparent fragility and the capacity to withstand: a structure that seems unstable, yet becomes strong enough to bear a load.

The inner void is not merely a functional space; it contributes to the sculpture’s presence in space. What appears on the verge of tipping finds, instead, its point of stability.

The piece questions our perception of balance: must one be perfectly grounded in order to bear weight?
